The CPR/First Aid class includes:  adult, child and infant CPR, AED use, and techniques to assist a choking victim.  Basic First Aid includes:  bleeding that you can see, and bleeding you cannot see, treating for shock, and how and when to call emergency services.  The course cost includes use of the manikins, DVD, instructor and practical components. Upon successful course completion you will receive a certification from the American Heart Association.  Charissa Kerr has been a Firefighter and Advanced EMT with the Raymond Fire Department since 2003, and an American Heart Association certified CPR instructor since 2005.

Emergency Medical Technician, blended learning program

EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT)

Blended Learning Course

This is a Maine State approved EMT course.  This course prepares students for the entrance level to work on an ambulance.  This is a face-to-face course, utilizing an online platform to enhance learning and classroom activities. This course will require a majority of the coursework to be done on-line on a personal computer.  There will be face to face/in class sessions with instructors to learn the practical skills needed to be an EMT.  Students can expect to spend a minimum of 25 hours each week on the course doing the required reading and assignments. A minimum of 24 clinical hours are required. Additional clinical time may be required to complete the clinical objectives. All students will be required to provide immunization documentation prior to clinical. Students who successfully complete this course are eligible to sit for the National Registry EMT (NREMT) exam. NREMT Practical testing fees are included in the price of this course.  Written testing fees and Maine licensing fees are NOT included.
