Welcome to the world of technology! If you’re new to computers or have tried using them but are still not comfortable, then this is the course for you. We will work together to cover the basics of how computers work and how to use them in a comfortable and relaxed environment. We will learn basic word processing, how to use email, how to use the Internet and more. This class is for true beginners. If you use a computer and are comfortable with the basics, think about enrolling in one of our other computer classes.

Take your office skills to the next level and get the training to make your resume stand out! Learn to combine the basic principles of accounting with the essential knowledge of QuickBooks functions with this must-have training for anyone working in or looking to work in a small office. We will focus on accounting for a business setting: AP/AR, monthly reconciliation, record keeping for tax purposes, and other general small business bookkeeping requirements. Prior experience with QuickBooks is not required but helpful.

Digital Photography 101

Calendar Mar 3, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 3 weeks

This 3-week instructional photography course will cover: how a camera works, technical terminology, exposure modes, manual exposure, light, composition, recommended equipment for all photographers, post production for digital photographers and much more. Students interested should have a basic knowledge of their camera including how to change exposure modes, ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Students should bring to class a digital single lens reflex (DSLR) camera or a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera (MILC) as well as their camera manual.

Beginner Drone Flying

This 15-hour course is designed for anyone using or looking to use drones. We cover the operation of various models, hands-on flight practice, uses and applications across industries, FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) regulations, operational risks, insurance, career opportunities and much more. If you are currently working, or considering a career in, real estate, construction, transportation, agriculture, insurance, public safety, photography, media, inspection, etc. or want to start a business, you’ll learn how your industry can be transformed in new, cost-effective ways. We will discuss how the citizens of Maine are using these unmanned aircraft in their businesses and how best you can employ drones in your business or start a new one. Prerequisites: Must have a minimum of 8th grade English reading and writing level, and comfortable using a computer and internet browser. NOTE: Class times include a working lunch. Please come prepared with a bagged lunch, snacks and drinks. Microwave and fridge are available for use.

Digital Photography 102

Calendar Mar 31, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 3 weeks

This class will be driven by students. The instructor will be prepared to instruct on a variety of topics chosen by the students. Past topics have included Sports Photography, Landscape photography, Portraiture, and Lighting Basics. Students should have a full understanding of their camera, including how to use the light meter, adjust the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO; and have a general understanding of Depth of Field, Field of View, and types of Light. It is highly recommended for students who are intending to take this course have taken a previous course with the instructor as many concepts are covered in the Digital Photography 101 course that will be needed.

Exploring google - It's not just a search engine

Beginners 3D Printing

Calendar May 6, 2020 at 6 pm, runs for 3 weeks

Welcome to the world of 3D printing! In this class you will learn everything you need to know to design and create your own 3D printed creations. Students will be using a web based online design software to create their designs so a laptop with internet access is a must. Students will have time to work independently on their designs. At the end you will walk away with 2 to 3 designs you created.
