The Construction Academy

Do you want to work in the construction field?  HUB partners Portland & Windham Raymond Adult Education are offering a streamlined construction prep course. The Construction Academy prepares students to become construction workers, as well as help them determine their best path to enter into the construction profession.  Training received during the program will cover the following topics:

* Safety

* Construction math

* Introduction to hand and power tools                       

* Introduction to construction drawing

* Basic rigging (optional)

* Materials handling (optional)

* Handing concrete (optional)

* Work Ready

* Job shadowing on work sites

The course will combine both classroom time as well as hands-on learning in the construction lab at Portland Arts & Technology High School. Program curriculum is based on the NCCER Core and is endorsed by PC Construction, Langford & Lowe Construction and Knowles Construction. Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a certificate and transcript. Students must be 18 years of age, be eligible to work in the USA (or have applied), and have a high school diploma or equivalency.  Valid driver’s license highly recommended.

Mondays, 9/17 - 12/10, 1:30 - 5:30 PM, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9/18 - 12/19, 1:30 - 7:00 PM

Location:  Portland Arts and Technology High School (PATHS)

Fee: $1100 ** Scholarships available
