Reading and Writing Essentials for ESOL

Students will practice reading English used in life, for work, school, and entertainment. The class will also give students practice writing English paragraphs and essays for formal correspondence and academic writing. This course is for ESOL students who tested as high advanced on the CASAS test (221 or higher). Students must meet with ABE Coordinator Catherine Renaud for testing and placement. Rolling admission. Call 892-1819 to set up an appointment. No class 2/19, 2/21, 4/16, 4/18.

Sandy Warren, MSEd, is passionate about teaching English to adult learners. Having lived in the Dominican Republic for 12 years, she understands the process of uprooting and learning a new culture and language. She worked as an ESOL teacher in Michigan from 2014-2018, taught English-language learners in the Dominican Republic for 10 years, built ESOL curriculum, and led ESOL professional-development groups in Michigan as a board member of the Michigan ESL Advisory Committee. In addition to holding a MSEd from Saint Joseph's College in Maine, Sandy is completing her MA in TESOL from Cornerstone University in Michigan with a 4.0 GPA.  She also holds a current secondary life-science teaching endorsement.
