If you've always wanted to write but have no idea where to start, this course will demystify the process for you. You'll get a taste of the writing life, improve your writing skills, and develop new ways to stretch your creative muscles. 

This exciting, hands-on course for the creative writing novice is filled with challenging exercises, expert advice, and plenty of direct support and encouragement. As you work your way through the lessons, you'll develop your own short, creative fiction or nonfiction piece. Our emphasis in this course is on developing your skills through practice, so you'll spend more time writing than reading.

You'll master important concepts by completing enjoyable writing exercises and assignments, and you'll discover a variety of strategies and techniques the pros use to develop characters, create a compelling point of view, build interest through dialogue, and add meaning to your stories

Cardio, Core, and More!

During this class you will hit multiple muscle groups and burn calories in a workout that is designed to strengthen the cardiovascular system, tone muscles, and boost balance, flexibility and endurance.  All major muscle groups are challenged as you move from 1 muscle group to the next. This class is great for all abilities as you work to the best of your ability on each exercise.  There are regressions and progressions for each exercise. The class will use your own bodyweight, gliding disks and other fitness props.  Bringing your own exercise mat and a set of hand weights are recommended but not required.  Please bring a water bottle! With a Sports & Exercise Degree from St. Joseph’s College, Jenna Chase is a sought after fitness instructor certified in BODYSHRED, TABATA Bootcamp, and Barre Above, as well as a nutrition, weight management, and lifestyle coach. No classes 2/21.

Chalk Paint Your Furniture or Kitchen Cabinets

Is there furniture in your home that needs a fresh look? Been dreaming of a new kitchen? This class is for YOU!  Each student will learn the simple Royal Chalk 4-step system for painting furniture.  In this one evening class, you will learn how to create any look you desire…vintage, cottage, antiqued, modern…. in any painted color you desire at a fraction of the cost of new cabinets or new furniture. No experience required! Miki Earle, creator of The Royal Chalk paint line, has taught hundreds of DIY students to successfully refinish furniture and cabinetry.  Visit the royalchalk.com site to get an idea of the beauty you can create. Bring a small portable piece of furniture (for the sake of time, no more than 4 spindles on any piece please) or wooden craft (cleaned thoroughly in a degreasing soap like DAWN) to paint AND a one cup sample mixed in the flat low-primer paint color you love. We recommend the Home Depot BEHR Premium Plus flat sheen 8 ounce samples. They will mix-in your color choice. Wear paint clothes or an apron and bring a small drop cloth. All chalking materials, finishes, paint brushes, and tools will be provided.

Cooking Seasonally

This class teaches students how to cook with seasonal ingredients using the freshest fruits, vegetables and meats available. This will be at least a three to four course meal. The class products will be completely sourced from local farms and the menu will be dependent on what is available and freshest at the time of the class.

CPR & 1st Aid

Calendar Mar 27, 2018 at 6 pm, runs for 1 week

The CPR/First Aid class includes:  adult, child and infant CPR, AED use, and techniques to assist a choking victim.  Basic First Aid includes:  bleeding that you can see, and bleeding you cannot see, treating for shock, and how and when to call emergency services.  The course cost includes use of the manikins, DVD, instructor and practical components. Upon successful course completion you will receive a certification from the American Heart Association.

Fee: $75 for both classes

(First Aid - $30, CPR - $45)

Please note – First aid and CPR are two separate courses.  Workbooks are not included with this class, but can be purchased prior to class for $10.00. Contact us at 892-1819 if you wish to pre-purchase.

Charissa Kerr has a Firefighter and Advanced EMT with the Raymond Fire Department since 2003.  She has been an American Heart Association certified CPR instructor since 2005.
