CPR Session III

The CPR class includes: adult, child and infant CPR and AED use, adult, child and infant choking how and when to call emergency services. The course cost includes all necessary practical components, and a certification from the American Heart Association. The workbook is not included in the fee. If you would like a workbook, please check the box on your online registration form. You pay the instructor for the book on the night of the class. Book fee: $10.

Please note – First aid and CPR are two separate courses. Workbooks are not included with this class, but books can be purchased from the instructor on the night of the class for $10. The workbook has all the material to cover both classes.

Cutting the Cable- Alternatives to Cable TV

Have you heard that people are cancelling their Spectrum/Time Warner, Direct TV, or DishNetwork subscriptions and migrating to online video streaming? Is it possible to save money by cancelling your cable? In this class, we’ll discuss the equipment requirements for watching online videos on your tv, minimum internet speed requirements, and compare the features of various streaming devices and services so you can make an informed decision about what plan is right for you. Are you a “cord cutter” or will you choose to stick with cable TV?

Evening Indoor Walking Program

Are you looking for a dry, safe, and well-lit place to walk? Join us for a healthy way to keep fit. A walking clinic will kick off the program providing information on techniques, proper stretching, goal setting, and record-keeping. Information night for new participants is Thursday 9/20, 5:30 - 6:30 PM in the high school cafeteria. No need to attend if you have previously participated in the walking program. Families are welcome to walk from 3:00 – 6:00 PM after the intro night. The nominal fee covers the entire semester! Kids are free. No access 10/8, 11/12, 11/21, 11/22.

Felted Clutch - Beginner Intermediate

Felted Clutch – Beginner/Intermediate

Join Patty in this class to learn how to use the felting technique of booking to create a purse. This method gives a bit more dimension to your handbag.  In the first class we will build your purse, using a book resist and a merino wool. In the second class we will sew on a metal kiss clasp and embellish to give your bag a beautiful finish.  At the end of our four-hour class, you will walk away with a complete clutch. Materials needed: 4 ounces of roving – choose from Merino, Cordial or Romney. (Please no peace fleece for this class); Bath towel; Wool can be purchased at Portfiber, 50 Cove St., Portland. Please specify whether you'd like a bronze or silver clasp, choice will be a first come basis.

Fee: $29, plus $15 materials fee paid to the instructor

 

Patricia (Patty) Collins has discovered, through felting, a fun, therapeutic and easy-to-do art form that she is excited to share with others.  As a mom of two, grandmother of four, and full-time program coordinator, she finds in felting a way to express her creativity in a relaxing, calming, and gratifying experience.  Patty will confidently instruct others to be amazed by their own talents through felting. 

Felted Slippers - Beginner/Intermediate

Felted Slippers – Beginner/Intermediate

Come learn how to make warm wool slippers. In this class you will learn how to make wool slippers using resist and wet felting techniques. We will build one slipper in each session.  The slippers are fun to make and great for the beginner to experienced felter.  Resist and tools will be provided by the instructor. Materials needed: 6 ounces of roving – choose from Merino, Cordial or Romney. (Please no peace fleece for this class); Bath towel; Wool can be purchased at Portfiber, 50 Cove St., Portland.

First Aid

Do you know what to do in the event of a medical emergency? Join Charissa Kerr, firefighter and Advanced EMT, to learn how to respond to medical emergencies, bleeding that you can see, bleeding you cannot see, treating for shock, and how and when to call emergency services. The course cost includes, power point presentation, instructor, practical components, and a certification from the American Heart Association. The workbook is not included in the fee. Charissa Kerr has a Firefighter and Advanced EMT with the Raymond Fire Department since 2003.  She has been an American Heart Association certified CPR instructor since 2005.
