Balsam Fir Workshop

Join us for a fun filled class! Continue a Maine tradition, create a gift, bring the fragrance of Christmas into your home and keep Maine green all winter long. Using materials provided, you can choose to make either; a beautiful 16” full arrangement of Maine balsam fir decorated with red ribbons or a beautiful 24” Balsam Fir Christmas wreath. Your kissing ball will be designed to hang in an archway or outdoors, your wreath will be made to hang on an outside door or wall. Both will remain fresh throughout the holidays and beyond. After the holidays, recycle the balsam into a fragrant sachet.  Bring to class: gloves and small hand pruners. Materials fees paid to instructor: $13/Kissing Ball, $11/ Wreath. Materials provided: Freshly harvested Maine Balsam Fir from our local woodlot, red ribbon, kissing ball form or reusable easy clamp wreath ring. Additional supplies are available.

Beginning Computers for Seniors

Welcome to the world of technology!  If you’re new to computers or have tried using them but are still not comfortable, then this is the course for you!  Try something new in a comfortable and relaxed environment.  We will work together to cover the basics of how computers work, how to use them, types of hardware and software, learning basic word processing, using e-mail, using the Internet and special topics of interest.  This class is for true beginners.  If you use a computer and are comfortable with the basics, think about enrolling in one of our other computer classes.  No Senior Discount will be given with this class.

Bio: 

Bill Keller has a B.S degree in Science/Secondary Education, a B.S in Computer Technology, and an MsEd in Secondary Education/Science. He has over 20 years of experience teaching at the high school and adult education levels in addition to many years teaching in the military. Bill has been teaching technology courses with Windham Raymond Adult Ed since 2008 and is a superb raised bed gardener.

Buying A Fixer Upper!

Are you looking for a home to fix up and live in, or for an investment property? This class will help the novice investor navigate the numerous issues that come with buying a distressed property. Industry experts will be on hand to provide information on: foreclosures/short sales/distressed properties, financing (including rehab loans), inspections, and more. Build equity and avoid the pitfalls with the knowledge you will obtain in this class. Following the classroom time, we will board a bus to view and walk through a variety of fixer uppers. This bus tour is unique, fun and educational. You will be joined by a real estate specialist, a mortgage specialist, an inspector and a contractor. The focus is to educate participants on the realities of purchasing Foreclosures, Short Sales and Distressed Properties.

Cardio, Core and More! - Section I

Cardio, Core and More!

During this class you will hit multiple muscle groups and burn calories in a workout that is designed to strengthen the cardiovascular system, tone muscles, and boost balance, flexibility and endurance.  All major muscle groups are challenged as you move from one muscle group to the next. This class is great for all abilities as you work to the best of your ability on each exercise.  There are regressions and progressions for each exercise. The class will use your own bodyweight, gliding disks and other fitness props.  Bring your own exercise mat and a set of hand weights.  Please bring a water bottle! No class 11/21.

Section I - Wednesdays, 9/12 – 10/24, 6:30 – 7:15 PM for 7 sessions

Section II - Wednesdays, 11/7 – 12/19, 6:30 – 7:15 PM for 6 sessions
