Beginning Computers for Seniors

Welcome to the world of technology!  If you’re new to computers or have tried using them but are still not comfortable, then this is the course for you!  Try something new in a comfortable and relaxed environment.  We will work together to cover the basics of how computers work, how to use them, types of hardware and software, learning basic word processing, using e-mail, using the Internet and special topics of interest.  This class is for true beginners.  If you use a computer and are comfortable with the basics, think about enrolling in one of our other computer classes.  No Senior Discount will be given with this class.

Exploring Google – It’s not just a search engine

In this class, we will explore the many applications associated with a Google Account. It’s not just a search engine or email though we will discuss those as well. We’ll check out apps such as calendar, drive, docs, chat, photos, maps/earth and more as time allows. Students should have general familiarity with computers and the internet. GMAIL is not necessary though an account will have to be set up to fully explore the apps.

The Intermediate CompTIA A+ Certification Prep course picks up where the Basic course left off and plunges you head-first into Windows, MacOS, and Linux. You learn how to install, organize, maintain, and troubleshoot three different versions of Windows. You'll examine and compare the features and structures of Windows Vista, 7, and 8/8.1. I'll even throw in some Windows 10 because it's cool. Toward the end of the course you'll get a deeper understanding of how we use virtualization and virtual machines in modern networks. Plus, you'll learn about printers and multifunction devices, from the various technologies in use to installing and troubleshooting. This course takes you through the second of three steps you need to become both a highly-competent PC tech and a CompTIA A+ certified technician, using the 901 and 902 competencies. Fee: $159*
