32 Hour Maine Registered Guide Training

The Guide prep program focuses on Licenses: Recreation, Fishing, and Hunting, with emphasis on Map & Compass, Search & Rescue, Catastrophic Events, Canoeing & Canoe Rescue techniques and all related topics in the field.  In this 4-day academic setting, students are 100% ready to take one of Maine’s toughest outdoor tests.  Once licensed as a Maine Guide one is able to lead others through the woods and waters of Maine as a business. 120 pg. manual provided. Materials Needed for Class: Compass: If you don’t have a compass we suggest: Silva Ranger CL with flip top cover mirror, aiming sites, and increments of 2. Cost is about $49.00. Or the Silva Explorer /Guide (under $20.00). Both may be purchased at Cabela’s. Notebook, highlighter, pen/pencil. Windham Weaponry requests that attendees park between buildings 1 & 2 or in front of building 1. Food and drink are allowed in the facility.

In this class you will learn the basics of a double entry accounting system: assets, liabilities, owner’s equity, debits and credits, journal entries, ledger accounts, posting, balancing accounts, preparing a trial balance and payroll.  Same text as Accounting I.  OSCP Course.  No class 2/22, 4/19.

Addiction and the Activist

The realities of addiction are prominent, familiar, and often not fully evident in our society. The nature of activism is a risk factor for addictive behaviors – both for those who have defined addictions and those who do not. This presentation will consider such realities in detail.

Bio:

Bob Klotz is a South Portland, Maine resident who has worked in healthcare for over 40 years. Bob is a physician assistant, currently employed in behavioral health medicine, who also has experience as a health educator and a provider of complementary wellness services. Bob is the co-founder of 350 Maine – a grassroots movement dedicated to solving the planetary climate crisis.

Choose from our large selection of high quality materials: silver ear wires and head pins, faceted Czech crystal in all colors and sizes, and seed beads in our own color way mixes. Learn basic wire wrapping techniques, as well as advanced techniques such as working with chain and clusters. Workshop fee includes all materials needed to make two pairs of earrings.

Beginner American Sign Language (ASL)

This course is for individuals interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL). In addition to an introductory discussion about deaf culture, the course will cover basic principles in the use of sign vocabulary and facial grammar in conversational ASL. We will be using the following book, which students should purchase once it has been determined the class will run and bring to the second night of class: Learning American Sign Language, 2nd Edition, by Padden and Humpries. No Class 4/16.
